1. Time Travel Dream - Carl Jung
Carl Jung, the famous Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, often wrote about profound dream experiences. In one instance, Jung recounted a dream where he found himself in the late Roman Empire, experiencing life as a scholar. In the dream, he walked through ancient streets, vividly observing the architecture and engaging in conversations with philosophers. The richness of the details astounded him, as the surroundings felt more real than dreams typically do. Jung later reflected on this experience as an example of what he called the “collective unconscious,” suggesting that dreams could access memories, thoughts, and emotions from humanity's shared history. His dream led him to explore time as a flexible, interconnected web that could be transcended through the unconscious mind.
2. Past Life Information - Edgar Cayce
Edgar Cayce, the American mystic known as the “Sleeping Prophet,” often experienced dreams that revealed past life information. Cayce would enter deep meditative trances, during which he claimed to access knowledge of people's previous incarnations. One notable instance involved his own past life, where he dreamed repeatedly of being a soldier during the Crusades. He described detailed battles, interactions with fellow soldiers, and the hardships of the era. These dreams contributed to his broader belief that our current lives are deeply connected to previous ones, with specific karmic lessons that need to be addressed. Cayce’s past life dreams not only shaped his personal philosophy but also influenced the thousands of life readings he conducted, guiding people to better understand their soul’s journey.
3. Healing Dreams - Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman, the famous abolitionist and leader of the Underground Railroad, often spoke about how her dreams and visions guided her. After a severe head injury as a young woman, Tubman began having vivid dreams that she believed were messages from God. One particularly powerful vision showed her walking through a lush, peaceful landscape, where her physical ailments were miraculously healed. She credited these dreams with giving her the strength and courage to push through her chronic pain and health issues as she led enslaved people to freedom. Tubman saw her dreams as a form of divine healing and guidance, helping her through some of the most challenging moments in her life’s work. These experiences reinforced her belief that she was on a sacred mission, driven by spiritual purpose.
4. Initiation starts with Dreams - Rudolf Steiner
Steiner was an initiate of the western mystery traditions, a visionary philosopher, educator, and esotericist, brought profound gifts to the world through his work in anthroposophy, a spiritual science that integrates the spiritual and material realms. His teachings encompass education, biodynamic farming, medicine, and the arts, offering holistic approaches to life. Central to Steiner’s legacy is his book How to Know Higher Worlds, which provides a guide for those seeking spiritual development. This initiatory path involves cultivating inner stillness, mindfulness, and ethical living, leading to the perception of spiritual truths. Steiner emphasizes that anyone can develop higher faculties through disciplined meditation, self-reflection, and a deep connection to nature, ultimately awakening to a higher understanding of existence and one's place in the cosmos. As a high initiate and clairvoyant seer, Steiner predicted the Honey Bee crisis 80 before it happened, because of this Steiner began giving many lectures on organic biodynamic gardening that now, the entire world is aware of and is integrating into healthy gardens.
Staying Connected to the Dead - Karl Briem
Karl Briem is Kristena Briem-West's father- who taught her Rudolf Steiner's methodology of dreamwork based on time tested esoteric practices. Karl could see and speak with the "dead" and helped them understand that they had transitioned-crossed over to life after death states of consciousness. He taught Kristena the pivotal Rosicrucian dream methods of how to contact and ask a question of the loved one to stay connected and have a loving healthy communication of help and support from one heart on earth to another in timeless existence.
ESOTERIC DREAMWORK IS A PATH OF INITIATION
Initiation often involves crossing a threshold—whether physical, symbolic, or spiritual—that marks the divide between the known and the unknown, the mundane and the sacred. In dreams, this crossing takes place between the waking world and the dream world, where we can enter consciously into timeless existence where our loved ones dwell. The act of crossing into dream states is itself an initiation into liminal, in-between spaces, where the individual becomes a “walker between worlds.”
Dreamwork as a Spiral Path of Continual Initiation
Dreamwork isn’t a one-time event but a spiral path where each cycle of dreams offers new layers of information. As the dreamer dives deeper and progresses, they may return to earlier symbols or challenges, but with deeper understanding and greater mastery. Each new phase of initiation reveals more about the dreamer’s spiritual purpose, inner world, and connection to the cosmos. Did you know "INITIATION" means To Start?

Kristena West M.A.
my father was an esotericist & studied the Western Mystery Traditions...he was a master dreamer and taught me from an early age...
I have been working and teaching dreamwork all my life. Big dreams called me to study many of the worlds sacred traditions and train with shamans since the early 90's.
As a community & social artist, my question has always been "What Makes Art Sacred?" Answering this question, a Big Dream lead me to move to Berkeley in 2000 and I received my Masters in cross-cultural sacred iconography with a graduate exhibition, Deities Dialogues & Dreams: Extraordinary conversations with Ordinary People. The exhibition showcased artist's friends of mine who had a Spiritual Experience, I asked them to write about the Spiritual Meeting and create a piece of artwork in conjuction with the Deity.
I was honored to complete the Two year Dream Studies program with noted artist, scientist and dreamer, Fariba Bogzarin. Fariba co-founded the Lucid Art Foundation and studied with Stephen Laberge (Lucid Dreaming author) in the sleep labs at Stanford University. We also worked with noted author and meditator Alan Wallace (Dali Lama's interpreter for many years) On moving back home to Santa Barbara- Alan used to do once a month workshops at the S.B. Consciousness institute. Alan's Shamatha Project spearheaded Meditation as a technique for resiliency, health and well-being...which I believe inspired the Calm app!
Bringing these psychological, scientific, shamanic, mystery traditions and archetypal dreamwork techniques together is a brand new approach to the ancient art of dreamwork. This foundational course will get you started on a great adventure- you can become the heroine or hero of your journey-to be able to cross the threshold of consciously is an inherent gift of being human- you don't have to be a shaman to dream awake! Take this class and start your adventure!
p.s. If enough friends are interested in continuing and deepening their dream skills we can create a monthly zoom global dream group! All participants will have to take this course as a basic foundational training.
